Objectives

  • Acquire a comprehensive grasp of the core subjects of English law, laying the groundwork for a successful career as a legal professional.
  • Expand knowledge and understanding beyond professionally exempting subjects by offering a diverse range of option modules. These modules are designed to complement core studies both intellectually and professionally.
  • Cultivate highly transferable intellectual skills such as coherent description, synthesis, logical analysis, and criticism concerning legal materials.
  • Foster an understanding and critical appreciation of the dynamic interplay between law, politics, social justice, human rights, and ethics.
  • Develop the ability to independently research, analyze, and present information on any subject related to the English legal system, even without prior study.
  • Nurture independence in learning, empowering students to take charge of their educational journey.
  • Enhance written and oral communication skills, vital for effective expression and articulation within the legal profession.
  • Prepare students for employment by honing transferable skills, including problem-solving, independent and collaborative work, critical judgment, and decision-making.

Admission Criteria

Age:

17 or older by 30 November in the year of registration.

Qualifications:

A Level: A minimum of 112 UCAS points

or

International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma with 26 points

or

BTEC Business awards, with a minimum grade of DMM or above

or

Any other relevant high school qualifications will also be considered.

Proof of competence in English:

Demonstrated by a UK GCSE/GCE 'O' Level at grade C or higher. In the absence of this, a proficiency test may be required.

Each application is assessed on an individual basis, with the final decision made at the discretion of Liverpool John Moores University.
