This programme is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of international relations, enabling them to form informed opinions and decide how they wish to interact within the global landscape. In addition to fostering knowledge about the world, the programme focuses on developing essential transferable skills crucial for professional success. These objectives are supported through foundational exploration of the subject, participation in an in-depth research project, and collaboration with industry practitioners.

Objectives

Key features of the programme include a central emphasis on the ability to critically reflect on the international system, methodologies employed by International Relations scholars, and the subject's societal function. The integration of research and teaching is a hallmark, with staff research outputs and analyses actively contributing to the learning process. Students gain direct exposure to cutting-edge work at the forefront of International Relations. The programme's commitment to internationalisation is evident through its diverse range of modules, spanning geographical and thematic dimensions.

The programme's overarching goals include providing a balanced and coherent curriculum for students with diverse backgrounds in International Relations and Politics. It seeks to introduce students to a spectrum of concepts, theories, and methods within the field, encouraging critical engagement for the purpose of supporting individual political development. The programme is designed to be intellectually challenging, fostering knowledge and critical insights into the origins, evolution, and contemporary dynamics of the international system, including its associated challenges.

Furthermore, the programme is dedicated to supporting students in the development of both subject-specific and transferable skills within a practical and critical learning environment.
